Privacy

The Split is operated by Britemind Oy, business ID FI 2755774-9, Finland ("we"). This page explains what data we process and why.

Your activity files

Files you upload are held in server memory only, for as long as you're actively working with them, and are automatically and permanently deleted after a short period of inactivity. We do not write uploaded files to disk, back them up, or share them with anyone. No account or sign-in is required to use the tool.

Analytics

We use Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool, to see aggregate traffic (which pages are visited, roughly how much, and from which country) so we know whether the site is useful. Umami does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build an individual profile of you — we cannot identify you personally from this data.

Beyond page views, the site records a few usage events so we can see what is used and what fails. Each event carries only values picked from a short fixed list: which tool you used (merge, crop/split, multisport, concatenate) and which kind of merge; the file format (FIT, TCX or GPX) and whether it was the first or second slot; a rough file-size band (under 1 MB, 1 to 5 MB, 5 to 15 MB); the sport, only if it is one of seven common ones (otherwise just "other"); whether the file holds more than one sport; and a short error or warning label such as "file too large" or "insufficient overlap". We never record file names, device names or models, dates or times, distances, durations, heart-rate, power or location values, error message text, or any identifier. The activity files themselves are never sent to analytics.

Payments (supporter wall)

If you buy a listing on the supporter wall, card details are entered directly into our payment processor Stripe's own checkout page and never pass through our servers. Stripe collects the billing information (name, address, VAT details as applicable) it needs to process the payment and calculate tax, and acts as an independent data processor for that information under its own privacy policy. We store only the display name and optional link you choose to show publicly, plus the fact and date of payment.

The checkout form has a single, unticked box asking whether we may email you about future updates or offers. Only if you tick it do we store the email address Stripe collected during checkout, and we use it solely to contact you directly — it is never shown on the supporter wall, never published, and never passed to anyone else. Leave the box unticked and no email address is kept. You can ask us to delete a stored address at any time by writing to thesplit@britemind.io.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you — in practice, this means your supporter-wall listing, since uploaded files are never retained long enough to look up. Contact us at thesplit@britemind.io to make a request.

Changes

We may update this page as the service changes; material changes will be noted here.
